Clay Johnson's Baby Quilt

This is my great nephew Clay Johnson's quilt. I made it using his baby clothes. It is shown on a queen size bed. The picture at the top is the front and the bottom is the back.   I used a combination of styles including rag quilting.  Love you Clay!            May 2015

Camping Fire Log - home made

I have made fire starters before, but decided to try a log that I could burn and add firewood to for a longer lasting fire.  This is my attempt and will be taking it with us camping this next week and will let you know how it works.
Items needed:  egg carton, lint from dryer, small pine cones, melted wax and yarn.
STEP ONE: I keep my empty egg cartons by the dryer and fill with lint.
STEP TWO:  Add a small pine cone to each cup (I gather these from my yard - but you could probably find in parks or wooded areas)
STEP THREE:  Drizzle with melted wax.  I keep a can of old wax candles and melted Pink Zebra wax scents that are no longer strong.
STEP FOUR: Close and wrap the entire egg carton with yarn.  Leave a big knot in the middle so you can light the yarn.
Below are pictures:

Added a small pine cone then drizzled with wax

Closed the carton and wrapped with yarn ready to light!
Will add firewood to this as it burns - no need for kindling!

For my Nessa's wedding ...

I created this chest for people to drop their cards into when they arrive at the wedding.  After the wedding the slat on top will be closed off and she will then have this as a keep sake forever!  How I love my nieces and how I am thrilled to have been asked to be part of the wedding by making this for my Nessa!!!  Wishing Janessa and Mitch a lifetime of happiness.

Rag Quilt tote in Blue

This is my second rag quilt tote.  I like it much better, however still
want to work on the size ... I think the sides need to be less than two
sqaures, but not just one ... adjustments coming!!!
In the mean time ... this is totally made of flannel with quilt batting to
make it very sturdy and duable.

My first Rag Quilt Tote

Above is one side and below the other side of my first rag quilt
tote.  It is a bit larger than I think I want to make them, but I
like it.  Dick did not until it was totally done!

I used the center cuts from the therapy bags I made to
make these ... you know me - I do not throw anything
away and had so many scraps left.  These end up being
3 1/2" squares.  I think I would just make this 9 in the
front and either smaller squares or just one row for
the bottom and sides.
